In response to questions posted, emailed, raised over coffee and discussed at the doorstep, I thought I would share what being an independent candidate means to me.
I am running for Saanich Council as an independent candidate. I am not endorsed by, or running with, a registered elector organization or party therefore I can make decisions based on the issues, information and perspectives brought forward by Saanich residents.
For me, independence is about being accountable to residents, approachable and willing to listen—while working respectfully and collaboratively with everyone around the Council table.
I am continuing more than 22 years of community advocacy and involvement because I believe in making a positive difference for Saanich.
